Jeg finder ofte gamle bøger i containere – bøger som er smukke udenpå, men indholdet er håbløst forældet. Her er en idé til, hvad man kan bruge nogle af de smukke gamle bøger til.
I often find old books in containers – books with beautiful covers but the content is hopelessly outdated. Here is one idea for using some of those beatiful old books.
Det skal du bruge:
En gammel bog, køkkenfilm, trælim, pensel, noget tungt at lægge den i pres under
Dekupørsav/nedstryger, hobbykniv,
Indhold fx. dukke, perlekæde, nodepapir, acrylmaling, limpistol
Here’s what you need:
An old book, plastic wrap, glue, paint brush, something heavy to weigh it down when gluing
Scroll saw/metal saw, Stanley knife
Content e.g.. doll, beads, acrylic paint, music paper, hot glue gun
Sådan gør du:
Vikl køkkenfilm omkring bogens omslag. Smør en vandig blanding af trælim med pensel på alle bogsidernes kanter. Bogen tørrer under kraftigt pres.
Tegn hullet op på bogens forside og skær det ud. Tegn hullet over på de sammenlimede sider og skær dem ud. Hullet kan skæres ud med en hobbykniv. Jeg borede hul i de fire hjørner og skar bogen på dekupørsaven. Husk sug – det støver meget. Hullet kan evt. slibes let med sandpapir, før der smøres lim på indersiden.
Wrap plastic wrap around the cover of the book. Apply a thin mix of glue to the edges of the pages with a paint brush. Let the book dry while under pressure.
Draw the hole on the front cover and cut it out. Draw the hole on the glued pages and cut them out. You can cut the pages with a Stanley knife. I have drilled a hole in each corner of the hole and then sawed it on the scroll saw. Sand it and glue it.
Bagsiden af omslaget limes sammen med siderne (ikke forsiden!). Lad tørre under pres.
I de forreste sider skæres med hobbykniv cirka en halv cm større hul så langt ned som tykkelsen på en acrylplade. (se tegning)
Glue the back cover to the pages (not the front cover!). Let it dry.
In the front pages cut a hole 1/2cm bigger than your first hole and the depth of your acrylic plate (see drawing).
Acrylpladen saves ud, så den passer i det nye hul. Den saves på dekupørsaven eller med en fintandet sav, fx en nedstryger. Sæt malertape på bagsiden, så det ikke flosser.
The acrylic plate is cut to fit the new hole. Cut it on the scroll saw or with a metal saw. Put painter’s tape on the back side to prevent it from cracking.
Indholdet / The content
Jeg har brugt en lille dukke, som jeg har malet med acrylmaling. På indersiden af bogens hul har jeg limet nodepapir og malet det over med tynd grå maling og lidt guld for at patinere. Vingerne er nogen jeg har lavet for længe siden, og så har jeg limet nogle perler rundt langs kanten. Det hele er sat fast med limpistol.
Når du er tilfreds med indholdet limes acrylpladen med limpistol og ‘låget’ limes ligeledes fast.
I have used a small doll, that I have painted with acrylic paint. The inside of the book I have decorated with music paper and thin grey and gold paint to make it look old. The wings I have made long time ago. Along the edges of the hole I have used some beads. Everything is attached to the book with hot glue.
When you are satisfied with the content, the acrylic plate is attached with hot glue and the same with the front cover.
